HTC Desire scratched camera lens cover
location: droidmania.com - date: July 19, 2010
I've had my Desire for just over 2 months now and like to think I look after it - i.e. it doesn't get dropped or thrown about etc. However I've noticed that the rear camera lens cover is already badly scratched which is having a detrimental effect on any photos I take - they have a slightly 'misty' look to them.
Quite disappointed by all of this as I owned a SE W880i for 3 years and the lens is still as good as the first day it left the box!
Just wonder if anyone else has experienced this problem and if there is a fix? I could pop out and buy another cover but I fear it would only last another 2 months and using a protective case isn't that appealing!
Samsung Galaxy S2 Camera Lens Scratched!
location: droidradar.com - date: October 29, 2011
I have had my SGSII for about a month only and i have noticed the picture quality dropping. Did a careful examination and found out that the camera lens has lots of lines all over. They cannot be cleaned off.
I was wondering why did samsung made such a lousy design or rather, non durable camera lens. Are there any ways to protect or restore the lens? Thanks much!

Plastic Covering Galaxy S4 Camera Lens?
location: droidradar.com - date: April 29, 2013
I received my AT&T Galaxy S4 on Friday and love it so far. Only problem I had with it is I've noticed that on the camera lens there seems to be a piece of plastic on it with a circular cutout for the "eye" of the camera (sorry don't know anything about camera lingo lol).
If I touch the camera lens it makes a sound like there is indeed a plastic piece on top it. I've removed the back cover and tried running my fingernail across the lens to see if I could get the plastic piece to come off but it seems to be part of the lens itself.
This wouldn't normally bother me except that there are two small piece of hair and some dust that have gotten underneath this plastic. Is this plastic removeable or is this the actual design of the camera lens?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
HTC One (M8): Camera lens cover issue
location: droidradar.com - date: April 14, 2014
I'm careful with the phone...the glass front and metal back have zero scratches.
But the plastic(?) clear cover over the camera is very scratched. Looks like I took a rock or something to it.
What's the deal? A phone with such killer build quality has such a terrible weak spot? Photos will surely get worse, and you know there isn't room for additional lack of quality.
Beginning around post #140 of this thread a DYI fix began to be discussed, thanks to several contributors. This fix does seem to rectify a very real flaw some users discovered on their M8 device. I'm personally annoyed and shocked HTC overlooked this issue initially and so far are providing inconsistent assistance.
Post #183 shows the DYI results before and after.
Many users found a combo of rubbing alcohol and careful intentional wiping cleared the lens some degree.
Try anything discussed here at your own risk.

Best way to protect the camera lens?
location: droidradar.com - date: May 3, 2014
Do you think it would be okay to cut off a small square of a screen protector and put it over the camera? or would it cause images to be bad quality? I'm worried the lens will get scratched over time without something on it
Camera lens cover Official HTC response!
location: droidradar.com - date: June 17, 2011
After hearing all of the reviewers worry and comment about the possibility of the Evo 3D's lens cover getting scratched, I got to thinking... Why not ask HTC about the material used. So I emailed them. I am very impressed with HTC and their support responses. They go of their way to be thorough and do not seem to use canned responses. I am thrilled with the response. I have pasted it below for all of you along with attached images. Yes, they sent me two images. However, the quality quality are not very good, they were taken with an HTC Desire according to the image properties, not the Evo 3D.
For those who want a summary:
- HTC will not divulge what the lens cover is made from siting proprietary reasons. (understandable)
- HTC did testing of the the lens cover giving it much more abuse than they expect it to reasonably get. They had a hard time damaging it.
Quoted email from HTC to me:
"I understand you are concerned that the camera on the Evo 3D may be e
