Frustrated with Straight Talk data connectionGeneral
location: droidmania.com - date: December 9, 2012
I just recently got my Nexus 4 and decided from the get-go to use Straight Talk. I had never used this service before so I didn't know what to expect. After I got the card, I changed the APN settings like it said to and it seems to connect, but my connection is awful! I have full bars most of the time and I get the little H at the top telling me I'm connected to the network, but a lot of times when I try and connect to Facebook it just keeps saying I have no connection, and there's a lot of times when I try to load a webpage, the text will come up, but no pictures, or else it will say it can't connect to the proxy server.
Does anyone else have this problem? I am so disappointed with this service. I was really looking forward to having the faster HSPA+ service compared to Sprint's 3G, but this is worse! I'm not sure if did something wrong with the APN settings or what, but if that was the case, I would think it wouldn't connect at all. After my mon
Straight Talk data/web usage

i was thinking of leaving Boost and changing to Straight Talk but i have been reading on another forum that ST has been cutting people off when they reach a certain amount of data usage on the unlimited plan. if the plan is unlimited them why are people getting cut off? also i went and read ST's Terms and Conditions and i am confused on something there as well.

Data Problems (as in none): Nexus 4 with Straight Talk
location: droidradar.com - date: March 19, 2013
I purchased an unlocked nexus 4 last month to go with my prepaid unlimited voice + data on straight talk. i had previously joined s/t via BYOP from T-Mo (also didn't have data with my old phone, but S/T said I'd need answers from Samsung and T-Mo, and the latter two said "Only the other can help you." Later I got an e-mail from Samsung admitting that they could have helped, but they'd be violating their agreement with T-mo. grrr)
So, I cut up my mini-Sim, put it in the micro-sim holder, changed the APN in accordance with S/T instructions. Voice and text messages work like a charm. Data works like a charm, but only via wi-fi. Signal strength -- great. T-Mo coverage in this area -- great. The 3-G icon does not appear in the status bar. Any time I try to connect via S/T -- whether it's maps or Itunes or chrome browser -- I get http error 500 (internal server error), along with the text "encountered an error while retrieving http://androidapi.t-mobile.com/apppack/
AT&T Straight Talk SIM APN Settings (MMS and Data)
location: androidpark.com - date: September 28, 2013
Hey guys and gals ... I've searched the Internet far and wide looking for the correct APN settings to allow MMS and Data on a Straight Talk AT&T SIM using an unlocked T-Mobile device with no luck.
So naturally I started playing around with it on my own and figured it out so I thought I would share it with everyone who was curious.
The default APN settings ST gave me worked OK for data, but not MMS --- which was weird.
Here's my APN Settings:
Name: ATT 4G LTE (of course you can name it whatever you want)
MMS Proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
MMS Port: 80
Authentication Type: PAP
APN Type: default,mms,supl,hipri
APN Protocol: IPv4
MVNO Type: None

The issue I'm having is getting mobile data to work on my Nexus 4. My carrier is Straight Talk (via T-Mobile). My APN settings are correct, and I will list them here. Any helpful ideas would be extremely appreciated.

Slow data speeds on Straight talk
location: droidradar.com - date: July 24, 2012
I seem to be getting slow data speeds on my unlocked nexus through straight talk. I ordered the nexus through the play store and the unlocked sim from straight talk which is an AT&T sim. My friend sitting next to me with a gs2 can pull about 3-5 mbps down and about 1.5mbps up. My speed test show I only get 500kbps down and about 800kpbs up

Data issue with Straight Talk vs TMobile PPD
location: droidradar.com - date: August 19, 2012
Okay so I've tried T-Mobile PPD (unlimited everything except 2GB Data) and now I'm trying out Straight Talk on AT&T. Besides the horrible data performance with AT&T I'm getting this annoying time out on Chrome 3 out of 5 times when I try to bring up a website. The attached pic is from earlier today while I was out. If I refresh 1-2 times it will eventually appear. Never ever had this problem with T-Mobile. At this rate the frustration alone is worth the extra cost to move back to T-Mobile and forget Straight Talk ever existed. I've tried this with the proxy settings on and off and I get the same results. My theory is AT&T is so darn slow that Chrome times out.
NO DATA with Straight Talk AT&T SIM
location: droidradar.com - date: December 26, 2012
My very cool wife bought me a Nexus 4 for Christmas, and an AT&T Micro-SIM to go with it. I loaded up a $45 plan and got everything ready to go. It took about 18 hours (just let me go, Virgin Mobile!) for the phone number to port over, but finally I was able to make calls.
But no data ever showed up. I tried tweaking the APN settings to everything I could find on the internet. I tried to call Straight Talk, but after being on hold for an hour with no response, I hung up. I have submitted a ticket through their FB page, but the response (after several hours) didn't encourage me - it left me wondering if they could actually read what I wrote.
So is there any hope for me, or do I need a new SIM? I can send and receive texts, but I get no data. If I use the wap.cingular APN I get a very slow and broken (basically unusable) data connection, but with att.mvno I get nothing. Removing proxies and ports does nothing either. I know people around me are using AT&T Straight Talk data

Straight Talk (AT&T LTE) data issues
location: droidradar.com - date: February 4, 2014
I'm a new Straight Talk user (good bye Verizon). I ditched my Galaxy Nexus with Verizon, and have been using my Nexus 5 (with Straight Talk) for a few days now. The SIM bars are showing LTE (from AT&T), but it seems it's not syncing (getting email, hangouts, notifications, etc) effectively.
When I know I have a new email, or hangout, etc. They don't show up on my phone until minutes later. When I try to check for the new email, sometimes it will say "no connection", or it will refresh but just not show anything new. The data itself seems to be working fine, as it loads websites, facebook, etc just fine (or so it seems).
I ported my phone number from Verizon to Google (Voice) and then am forwarding that to my new Straight Talk number...but I would doubt any of that has anything to do with my data/syncing issue. Any suggestions? I am using the APN found in this thread. Which is also the same as the one found here: Straight Talk and LTE on AT&T SIM with the Nexus 5 i
