[HOWTO] Make your own analog clock | 10Jun12
location: androidpark.com - date: June 10, 2012
Hello, this is Chris talking, your fellow Time Keeper (yeah, I was nicknamed) and this is my tutorial on how to build a simple, lightweight analog clock!
This guide assumes that you have successfully set up the Android SDK, ADT, Eclipse, some basic Java knowledge and image editing skills.
Go to the menu bar and click File > New > Android Project
Give your project a name, such as "XDA Devs Clock". Anything you prefer. This isn't going to affect the final app.
Next, select Android 1.6 as the build target. Analog clocks don't require anything special.
Now it's time to create the package name. I usually make mine like "com.xda.clock.chris".
Untick the "Create Activity" checkbox.
Info: We don't need to create an Activity because we are making a widget. Widgets don't have Activities, otherwise, they would be
Alarm clock icon disappearing from notification bar
location: droidradar.com - date: January 20, 2014
I'm having an issue that creeped up in the last week. it is not critical by any means, just an annoyance that I am trying to resolve.
Normally, when the alarm clock is set and activated, a clock icon appears in the notification bar until the alarm is turned off. I find this a nice and easy reminder that my alarm is set at a glance. Recently, however, the icon appears when I set the alarm, and then disappears within minutes (often after I lock and then unlock the screen). I can sometimes see the icon flicker on and off on the bar as if something is trying to hide it.
The actual functionality of the alarm is not affected, and I can see the alarm set information on the lock screen without issues. I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out what may have caused this - but I haven't installed any new apps recently. I do use GSAM battery monitor, which did recently download and install an update. It has a notification icon in the bar as well, although nowhere nearby.I also us
[APP][NFC] Badge NFC: use your phone as clock in/out card
location: androidpark.com - date: January 4, 2013
Hello, for those interested I posted on the Play Store a new application to use the NFC chip in an original way: Badge NFC
It 'a simple application that allows you to use an NFC sticker/tag as clock in/out. Place the tag where you want and whenever you touch the tag with your phone the app keeps track alternately of in/out actions, saving them in a database that can be exported to Excel
Play Store Link
BadgeNFC for Android - Home
With PRO key ( € 0.99) you can save your in/out actions on an online database and share them with a group of people ... for example, a small gym managed by a group of friends could put a preconfigured sticker and record to the online database all the clock in/out actions ... of course everyone has to have an Android phone with NFC chip ... but I guess you do not associate with Apple boys ...
For example, I'm using this app at my office: I placed an NFC stick near my company clock-in machine so I can compare my in/out actions with those registered fro
[TUTORIAL][SENSE]How to edit XML/smali files in SystemUI.apk, the clean and easy way
location: androidpark.com - date: January 19, 2012
For the last two days, i've been working on a fix for the "subsequent row resize bug" in MrLuje's port of Quick Settings. As every journey starts with the first step, i needed to properly decompile/recompile SystemUI.apk before being able to read/edit any XML/smali files it contains. Upon searching the Internet and through trial and error, i've managed to find a simple and clean way to do it (as any other way i've tried was leading to force closes).
- an enhanced text editor to edit the XML/smali files with (i use EditPlus);
- *Root Explorer or any other root explorer out there (i use ES File Explorer);
- any archive utility that can open .ZIP files (7zip, WinRAR etc.);
- Windows PC.
*Note: yes, you have to have root and S-OFF!
Step 1 (installing the tools):
- Download and install the latest Java Runtime Environment (APKtool needs at least ver. 1.6);
- Download "apktool-install-windows-r04-brut1.tar.bz2"

[Q]Is there any way of getting all the stock android apps in place of sense versions?
location: androidpark.com - date: January 5, 2014
I know this sounds mad, you'd think that instead of just getting a Nexus instead of a HTC would be the best idea but I quite liked the One mini so I went for it, but I still prefer stock to sense is there anyway of getting it closer to stock as opposed to just customizing it?

Welcome to the "EnergyROM" thread !
This development thread is for my "Energy" custom firmware series for the HTC Touch Pro (Raphael) device.
The current build numbers and date can be seen in the title of this thread. I usually update the ROMs about twice a week, as new builds come down the pipe or as new software/updates are available.
I build my ROMs with four main goals.
Eye candy ( I want my ROM to look great and for it to all flow together nicely)
Smoothness, consistency and good aesthetics
Stability through private beta testing before public release
I pre-configure a lot of things in my ROM, because when I flash it on my phone, I want it ready to go. So, expect the backlight to be set at the maximum brightness, the ringtone, sms/email and other notifications to already be set. Doing it this way, makes for a nice ROM that's ready out of the box.
I recommend learning to backup your settings with either Sashimi or

Did KK come with a new version of Sense too? Thanks.
Android Alarm Clock vs. Blackberry alarm
location: droidmania.com - date: April 15, 2010
Hey guys, quick question about the alarm clock feature on android phones. I'm planning on buying the Incredible when it's released to replace my horrible BB Storm.
Here's my question...
When i plug my BB into the charger, it recognizes that its charging and automatically switches into "bedside mode" (changes my sound profile, displays the clock, and dims the screen way down). When I unplug my BB, it recognizes that its unplugged, switches out of bedside mode and switches back to my previous sound profile.
Does android do this or is there an app that does something like it? I know it sounds lazy, but I'm just used to plugging it in, and the BB doing everything else. BTW, I really hate my BB and excited about the new Incredible.
