android native SIP for cheap voip phone callsGeneral
location: droidmania.com - date: May 24, 2012
hey everyone, so iv been using my notei717 for months now and im loving it! such a cool phone and now iv decided to sign up with a voip internet phone service to make phone calls. its a great way to phone call over the net for cheap, i suggest looking it up. so have any of you used any good apps for making voip phone calls? apparently android phones running 2.3 or higher should have a built in native SIP program. which basically means its an app to handle your voip phone calls. but i cant seem to find it in my note anywhere in the settings. i heard that android deleted it from another galaxy phone because of those big evil phone corporations putting pressure on android. hopefully not but thats what iv heard. .
I am implementing a Voip sip client for Android, where can I find an C#?

I'm trying to implement voip calling for Android (KitKat / version 4.4) using .net and the sip protocol and I need an open-source C# development library to accomplish my project.
So far, I used this android voip client example (voip-sip-sdk.com/p_456-how-to-build-an-android-voip-client-voip.html), but it seems my trial version will expire soon. Yes, it is... bad news.
By the way, while digging on the Internet, I'm thinking about using closs-platform tools. I'm especially interested in Xamarin that allows development with c#.
Do you have any knowledge about using cross-platform tools for Android-based voip development? Can you recommend me a Xamarin-compliant open-source c# voip library?

Hi, I'm probably moving to and Android phone on Sprint from a BB on AT&T and have narrowed it down to the Nexus S 4g and Motorola Photon (and maybe the Epic).
One thing I am trying to understand is how Voip works over wifi on the Nexus. Particularly, would I be able to use the SIP settings from my home voip provider as I would with any other softphone and make calls over wifi (from anywhere) without having to use Sprint minutes or pay sprint international roaming?
AT&T doesn't allow this to work on BB on their network but with them I just buy a local sim card. The Photon would allow me to do that, but if I can make wifi calls with the Nexus it would serve the same purpose for me to the extent I make calls internationally.
Any experiences with this is appreciated (and any other general comments on choosing between the three phones is acceptable too).
native SIP client with BluetoothAccessories

I post here since I wanted to get some idea on how the internet calling feature is working for you using a bluetooth headphone.
I have quite some experience with VoIP. Ran it on my SIP Phone since years, on softphones on my laptop, and now on Android with a GalaxyTab and SipDroid / native VoIP app.
I recently added to my GalaxyTab a Jabra Stone 2 bluetooth headset, it hooks up fine, so I moved from SipDroid on Froyo 2.2 to the Native VoIP client included in Overcome 3.1.0 / Gingerbread 2.3.3 because I was keen on the integrated bluetooth features (answer with the bluetooth button).
But I discovered the VoIP function using bluetooth is working properly only over 3G, strangely over WiFi I can't understand anything from the other end (the same with the incoming and the outgoing calls), it's like an intermittent / discontinuous sound, but strangely, everything is fine after 30-34 seconds, sound quality great, just like from the 1st second of an Internet call over 3G

Any solution / suggestion. I am using a different sip app but wouldn't mind having the Android stock built in app.

VOIP SIP calling issues?
location: droidradar.com - date: February 26, 2011
I've just migrated from my iPhone 3GS to the Atrix. So far, I'm pretty happy, although I'm not impressed with battery life, but on another forum I heard it gets better... we'll see...
One thing that I'm not thrilled about is the Atrix's ability to field SIP calls. We use OnSIP at work and I have an asterisk pbx at home. I can't get sipdroid to make a coherent call with either one. And that's even at home, over WiFi, on the same LAN as my asterisk pbx! The calls are very choppy and it sounds like you're underwater!
I've tried various codecs, but I don't think it's that. Has anyone else had any success with SIP calling? Is it the codec? Is it the setup? I even tried another SIP client; is there something better than sipdroid?
Thanks for any info/advice/experiences!
